Charity Jockey Football Day

Hereford based Pegasus Juniors FC are pleased to announce they have been invited to stage the 4th Annual National Hunt Jockeys Charity Football match at their facilities at Old School Lane, Hereford. On Sunday 14th October 2007 The Northern Jockeys play The Southern Jockeys with all proceeds going to help a great cause ... 'Alder Hey Children's Hospital Imagine Appeal' this being a charity with which the jockeys are closely involved. 'IMAGINE' is the name of Alder Hey's new charity - a fundraising initiative that helps to continue pioneering work, caring for the health of over 200,000 children and young people per year. Every donation received will help to achieve a little bit more, from researching medical conditions, to buying vital equipment - with help, IMAGINE will improve the lives of children worldwide. The game is being sponsored by Cotswold Hereford, BMW Authorised Dealers, of Roman Road, Hereford. The majority of the top national hunt riders have indicated their intention to attend including past and present Champion Jockeys John Francombe and Richard Johnson plus Graham Lee, Tony Dobbin and many others. After the game there will be an auction of sports memorabilia signed by the personalities who have presented the items. Items at the auction last year included football shirts from Aston Villa, Chelsea, Manchester United and West Bromwich Albion signed by players including Frank Lampard and Ronaldo, a cricket bat signed by Surrey Cricket Club, a days racing at various racecourses, a weekend for two in London and a hot air balloon flight plus many racing treasures.
